The author has been a professional musician off and on for forty years. Early experience playing saxophone in big bands in southeastern Michigan and on the road gave way to small group jazz, an all-originals jazz/latin group called the Lunar Octet, teaching several flocks of young piano students, and after a Mr. Mom hiatus, a trio called the Sustainable Jazz Ensemble.
